WISE
PARENTS VERSION
Learn, Grow, Succeed Together
We designed WISE to help parents, teachers, and students to communicate clearly, in more efficient and productive ways by addressing every important aspect of students’ development.
Project overview
Most parents do not know details about their children’s development and they keep struggling to communicate with their children’s teacher. Wise has 3 versions of the app that are particularly made for parents, teachers, and students. Wise parents app will help these people to learn every single detail about their children’s growth, development, and study. By having thorough information on hand, parents would be able to adjust their support to meet with the students’ needs.
The Solution
Participation
Project timeline
Wise offers all the necessary information about children’s education and development in efficient ways. It will help convey the teacher's complicated assessments into simple ways that every parent could easily understand the concept. And if parents don’t know what to do regarding the assessment results about their children, the app will offer suggestions to take actions.
As long as there’s no similar app in the market in Mongolia, parents have to spend a lot of time and effort to communicate with the teachers. In most cases, they need to commute to school and meet with the teachers upon their availability. Even with these meetings, they tend to lose or disregard some important aspects of their children’s study and development.

The Problem
RESEARCH
Initial research involved 500 students, 500 parents, and 50 teachers. In this case study we will focus on the results from Parents’ research.
Randomized survey with 500 parents, focus group interview with 15 parents.

Traffic jam and parking availability causes so much trouble for parents who need to go to school driving their own car,
Either they’re driving or taking a cab to school takes so much time. The only possible window of time to meet with teachers usually matches with rush hour. (Average traffic speed during the rush hour in Ulaanbaatar is about 2mph)
If parents don’t have to go to school, it would help them save some time
If parents don’t have to call or text teachers, it would help them feel respectful
Very few times parents were able to obtain all the information they wanted
Most of the time parents weren’t provided with information they needed
Parents usually miss information regarding their children’s personal development
Some parents don’t fully understand the necessity of information they have received from school, because their form is not easy to understand and it’s hard to grasp a concept of their later usefulness.
Most parents concerned about their children’s personal development

Hypothesis statement
Problem statement
Jennifer is a mother who needs to obtain comprehensive information regarding her child’s grade, homework, health, behavior, personal development, and social activities because she wants to help support her child in a feasible way.
Goal statement
Empathy map
If we could find a solution to remove her needs of travel to school and provide her with all the necessary information, then it would be beneficial for Jennifer’s time and well being, in addition she could figure out how to help support her children in more efficient ways.
By designing mobile app with parents as end users and providing them with simpler, easier to understand reporting features with all aspects, we will help them to save time and prevent negative emotional journeys while giving some customized advice on how to support their children.
User persona
User story
As a mother, I want to have detailed information as frequently as possible and regarding that information I would like to receive customized suggestions, so that I can help my child’s education and growth in a better way.
STUDENT EVALUATION SYSTEM - SES
As we found in the research phase, in terms of communication and information exchanging between parents and teachers about the students, there were several reports missing. So we have developed thorough evaluation system that covers every aspect of students’ academic, physical, and mental development which is called Student Evaluation System (SES).

Grades
We used the following approaches while developing the app.
Amp up the good - Most schools and teachers already have an incredibly good reporting system when it comes to grade and academic knowledge assessment. So we used the old system as a fundamental basis for the new one and just simplified its forms for parents to make it easier to understand with a quick glance.
Change the status quo - What we aimed to change was to completely eliminate the need to travel to school. The best way to achieve this goal is to develop an online based platform connecting the main parties of education such as students, teachers, and parents. Since all the parties have different contributions and authority, we will develop 3 different products that work simultaneously.
Break the point-of-view - When it comes to reporting about homework or participation, it was too vague to understand and parents couldn’t have any detailed information. So we developed a new reporting system with detailed breakdowns about homework.
Remove the bad - By developing a comprehensive reporting system in every field of education and growth with guidelines, we will remove the worst experience for all parties. With the app, parents will no longer need to call teachers and ask for their availability, teachers would enjoy their off time as their own.
Identify unexpected resources - While the current assessment system is mostly dependent on academic education results, we will need a more detailed system for children’s assessment in the fields of their personal development, emotional intelligence and regulation, health and sports, hobbies and talent development etc.

NOTES
Balancing Multiple Roles:
Managing diverse responsibilities, from UX design to project management and stakeholder relations, taught me how to prioritize tasks and
adapt to the needs of different roles effectively.
Understanding Complex User Needs:
Researching the needs of parents and education stakeholders deepened my ability to design for complex user groups,
each with specific goals and concerns.
Designing for Clarity and Trust:
Since the app handles sensitive data about children, I learned how important it is to design interfaces that are transparent, reliable, and
easy to understand to build user trust.
Integrating Diverse Information:
As an information architect, I developed skills in organizing complex datasets (academic, health, and behavioral) into a structure that is
logical and accessible for non-technical users.
Collaboration with Government Agencies:
Acting as a relationship manager, I learned how to align the app’s goals with regulatory requirements and build trust with government stakeholders, which was critical for the project’s success.
Impact-Driven Design:
Knowing that the app directly supports parents in tracking their children’s development gave me a firsthand understanding of how impactful user-focused design can be.
Cross-Disciplinary Coordination:
Working across disciplines required me to communicate effectively with developers, educators, and stakeholders to ensure the app met both technical and educational standards.
Delivering a Successful Product:
Seeing the app being successfully launched and adopted by parents highlighted the importance of thorough research, careful design, and stakeholder alignment in achieving meaningful results.
Project Management Growth:
Managing timelines, resources, and team dynamics throughout the project honed my project management skills, especially under tight deadlines.
Scaling for Future Projects:
This experience gave me a strong foundation for handling multifaceted UX projects,
preparing me to tackle even larger and more complex challenges in the future.
